Ingredients:
Ingredients:
5 cups flour
3 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 package yeast
1/2 cup hot water (110 degres)
2 cups buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
In a large bowl (with lid) mix first 5 (dry) ingredients. Cut in shortening.
Stir yeast into hot water. Stir yeast/water and buttermilk into flour mixture. Mix well, do not over mix. Cover with lid and refrigerate until ready to use. Will keep for one week in refrigerator.
When ready to bake:
Preheat oven to 400º. Take out as much dough as needed. Roll (or flatten with hand) onto floured surface, cut with biscuit cutter (or just shape into small flat biscuit) - approx 1 inch thick. Place onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake 17 minutes or until lightly browned.
----------------------------------------------------

To make cinnamon rolls, simply roll out dough into approximately an 18 inch circle. Spread with 1/2 cup melted butter. Sprinkle with approximately 1 1/2 cups sugar and 1 Tbsp cinnamon. Roll up jelly roll fashion and cut into approximately 1 1/4 inch slices. Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake 400 degrees for 15-17 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool slightly and frost. See Frosting page 124.

This recipe came from Grandma Young. I loved it when we went to her house for dinner.
