Pastry for two crust pie
4 – 5 medium cooking apples (I like to use Granny Smith, Fuji, and Pink Lady mix-n-match) pared, cored & sliced (or diced depending on preference)
¾ - 1 C granulated sugar
2 Tbl. flour
1/2 tsp cinnamon
4 canned pear halves, drained & crushed
2 Tbl white rum
½ jar of caramel ice cream topping
½ stick butter or margarine

Directions:
Preheat oven to 425’F. Line 9” pie plate with bottom pastry crust; roll out top crust. Combine apples, sugar, flour, caramel topping and cinnamon. Arrange crushed pears in lined 9” pie plate; sprinkle with rum; top with apple mixture; dot with butter. Adjust top crust (roll under edge of bottom crust & pinch together, cut small slices in top crust. Bake 40 – 50 min., or until filling is tender and crust nicely browned. Serve warm or cold.
