- 1|2 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1.5 cups flour
- 3 tbsp poppy seeds
- 1 tbsp grated lemon rind
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1\4 tsp salt
- 1\2 cup milk

LEMON SYRUP
- 1\3 cup sugar
- 1 tsp grated lemon rind
- 1\3 cup lemon juice

Directions:
Directions:
Beat butter with sugar until light and fluffy; beat in eggs, 1 at a time, beating well.

In separate bowl put flour, poppy seeds, lemon rind, baking pwd and salt. stir into butter mixture alternately with milk.

Bake in center of 350ºF oven for 1 hour.

Brush with lemon syrup once cool.
