1 c. shortening
1 box (16 oz.) brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. milk
4 T. cocoa
2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. chopped pecans
1 tsp. baking soda
4 c. flour

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs. Add cocoa, vanilla, and soda. Alternate adding flour and milk. Add pecans.

Drop on greased cookie sheet, in heaping teaspoons.

Bake at 350º 12-15 minutes.

I loved these cookies that Granny would regularly make. Warning -- they can get hard as rocks, if you're not careful. To keep them a bit softer, put a marshmallow in the airtight container you keep them in. OR, just dunk them in coffee or milk. That works too!
