Best Ever Aggie Pie Crust Recipe

Ingredients: 1 1/3 c. sifted regular flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. Crisco 2 T. cold water

Directions: |
Directions:Sift flour before measuring. Spoon lightly into measuring cup and level without shaking or packing down.
Combine flour and salt in a mixing bowl. Cut in Crisco until uniform. Mixture should be fairly coarse.
Sprinkle with cold water, a tablespoon at a time. Toss with a fork. Work dough into firm ball with hands, press dough into a flat circle with smooth edges.
On lightly floured surface, roll to a circle about 1 1/2 inch larger than inverted pie plate. Gently ease the dough into the pie pan. Do not stretch dough. Fold under to make double thickness of dough around rim and flute with fingers and fork.
DO NOT HANDLE THE DOUGH TOO MUCH OR IT WILL GET TOUGH! |

Notes: I got this recipe from the Kingsville A&M Mothers Club cookbook, a gift to me from Jean Kiel in about 1975. She was the mom of my suitemate, Kathy Kiel Smith, and a great lady. I've used this recipe probably a hundred or more times, and it's so good!
