Ingredients:
1 chocolate cake (prepared cake mix-made per instructions on box-or store bought chocolate cake), cut into pieces
1 8oz Cool Whip, thawed
1 4oz vanilla instant pudding (prepared according to box)
several bananas cut into slices
a pint of fresh strawberries (washed, sliced-or you can use a container of frozen strawberries in their juice, drained)

Directions:
Directions:
Layer some chocolate cake pieces in the bottom of a trifle bowl.
Add some strawberries on top. Add half of the Cool Whip. Add some bananas. Add some pudding. Repeat layers. Top with remaining Cool Whip. If you want, add some chocolate chips or chocolate shavings. Refrigerate several hours or overnight. Serve chilled.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This was my mom's go-to recipe for a family dessert. She never measured anything (always "eyeballed" ingredients) so feel free to use however many or few bananas or strawberries. She would make this the night before an event or occasion. I have doubled and tripled this recipe and made in large, deep tin foil containers too and everyone always loves it. It's best to eat it within a day or too since the bananas tend to brown and the pudding gets watery.
