1 1/4 cup sifted flour
1 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 tsp vanilla
1 egg yolk
1 tbsp. water
Frosting:
1 egg white
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts




Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour with cream of tartar and salt. Beat butter with sugar until light. Add egg yolk, water, vanilla and flour mixture. Chill for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350º. On floured board, roll dough in rectangle 1/8" thick.
Beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Add powdered sugar and vanilla, beat until smooth. Spread frosting over dough and sprinkle on nuts. Cut into small pieced and place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake 10 minutes or until light brown.
