1 loaf French bread, broken into small pieces
1 qt. half and half
1 tbsp. butter, at room temperature
3 eggs
1½ c. granulated sugar
2 tbsp. almond extract
¾ c. golden raisins
¾ c. sliced almonds
Amaretto sauce:
8 tbsp. butter, at room temperature
1 c. confectioners sugar
1 egg, well beaten
4 tbsp. Amaretto liquor

Directions:
Directions:
Place bread in medium sized bowl; cover with half and half. Cover bowl; let stand 1 hour. Preheat oven to 325ºF. Grease a 9x13x2" baking dish with butter. In small bowl, beat together eggs, sugar and almond extract. Stir into bread mixture. Gently fold in raisins and almonds. Spread bread mixture evenly in buttered baking dish. Set on middle rack of oven and bake for 50 minutes until golden. Remove and let cool.
Amaretto Sauce: In top of double boiler stir together butter and sugar. Stir constantly until sugar is dissolved and mixture is very hot. Remove from heat. Whisk egg well into mixture. Continue whisking until sauce is room temperature. Add Amaretto liquor.
