6 large apples
1/2 tsp. nutmeg or cinnamon
1/2 stick butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup water

Directions:
Wash apples, cut in half and core. Place in skillet flat side down. Add remaining ingredients. Cook covered over low heat until liquid is like heavy syrup. Place apple halves flat side up, spoon syrup over each.
