4 cups flour
2 T. sugar
2 T. Baking Powder
2 tsp. salt
2 sticks butter, cut in to small chunks (cold)
4 eggs (cold)
1 cup heavy cream (cold)
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 T. orange zest
3/4 cup dried fruit (mixed with 1/4 c. flour)

Using a large mixer, combine first four ingredients. Add the orange zest. Add the cold butter and mix in until size of small peas. Combine the eggs and cream and slowly pour into flour mixture. Mix until just blended, it will look lumpy. Add cranberries and blend. Dump dough onto well floured board and knead it into a ball. Keep hands well floured and pat or roll dough to 3/4 in. thick. Cut as you like. Place on parchment lined baking pans. Brush tops of scones with egg wash (1 egg beaten with 2 T. water), sprinkle with a bit of sugar. Bake at 400º for 20 to 25 minutes. Allow to cool for 15 min., then whisk together 1/2 c. plus 2 T. confectioners sugar with 4 tsp. orange juice and ice the scones.
