1 lb ground beef
1/2 pound ground pork
1 tablespoon oil
salt and pepper to taste
3 (14.5 ounce) cans Mexican-style stewed tomatoes or petite diced tomatoes
3 (15 ounce) cans dark red kidney beans
2 stalks celery, chopped
1 medium onion, sliced in thin rings
1 red or green bell pepper, chopped
2 tablespoons chili powder (preferably Mexican)
1 dash Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup red wine (optional)
1 teaspoon onion salt

Directions:

1-Heat oil in electric frying pan or large skillet, Cook meat, pour off any excess grease. Add celery, onion, and pepper and cook over medium heat. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

2--Add tomatoes, chili powder (mix with cold water), onion salt, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook for 1 hour on low heat, covered. Add spicy tomato sauce or Bloody Mary drink if it gets too dry.

3-Drain kidney beans and add to mixture along with the wine. Cook for another 1/2 hour.

Liz Gordon made great chili and gave the recipe to Mom years ago. Unfortunately, I lost the recipe in the fire and was not able to find anyone who still had it. I have tried to recreate it, and I think it’s pretty close.
