peel and cut potatoes, cover with cold water bring to boil on medium heat. Drain when potatoes are fork tender. Mash potatoes, adding milk and butter until smooth.

My husband and son loved Mom's mashed potatoes. No matter what I did they were never right. Mom used a copper bottom pan that was a wedding gift and a wire masher that was at least as old but i think what the real trick was when she finished mashing the potatoes in the pan she would take her index finger and clean off the inside edge of the pan. All I know is my mashed potatoes are not as good as my mom's according to my son.
