1 tbsp. bacon fat
1 sliced onion
2 cups potatoes, cut into 1/2" cubes
3 cups boiling water
2 cups cream style corn (19oz size)
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper or to taste
2 cups milk (optional -use 1 can carnation milk and another regular milk)
1 tbsp. flour
1 tbsp. butter

Directions:
Directions:
Cook onion in the fat, about 5 minutes. Add the potatoes to boiling water. Simmer slowly until the potatoes are soft. Then add corn and seasonings. Bring the milk to a scalding point then add chowder. Thicken with flour dissolved in a little water. Add butter.

Serve with crackers.
