16 eggs (room temp)
7 tbsp. yeast
2 c. warm water
3 sticks butter (melted)
2 sticks margarine (melted)
1 tbsp. salt
4 c. sugar
1/2 c. anise
5 c. flour
additional 17 c. flour
3-4 tbsp. non pareils

Directions:
Directions:
Mix yeast with warm water and let stand until it forms a creamy foam layer on top, 5 to 10 minutes.

In a large bowl add your eggs, salt, sugar, anise and 5 cups flour. Begin mixing and add in the yeast mixture, butter, and margarine. Gradually add in more flour (approx. 17 additional cups) until dough is shiny and no longer sticky.( You can also use your KitchenAid with dough hook attachment.) Once dough has completely come together, kneed and form a ball, place back in the bowl, cover and let rest until the dough has doubled in size.

Punch down, split dough in half and each half split into a third. Make into 3 long logs and form a braid. Cover and let rise again.

Bake at 350º until golden brown. Brush with egg and sprinkle with sugar and non pareils.
