1 tbsp butter
1 tsp salt
1 cup molasses ("I prefer sorghum")
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup water
1 tsp baking soda
12 qts popcorn

Directions:
Directions:
Put water over sugar and bring to boil to dissolve sugar. Then add to rest of ingredients and took to hard crack stage when tested in cold water. Remove from heat and add 1 tsp soda & stir in well. Then pour over popcorn and stir and stir until corn is all covered. Spread out on waxed paper and let cool.

This recipe was on a torn 1/2 page of old, old paper. On the back was a partial letter. What I could read said, "Gee I'll bet the country is in for a siege. Do you remember the flood of 1937 when you and I wasn't out of the house for 6 weeks. Every one is expecting another winter just like it as they say history repeats itself every 10 years. Well we might be in for it, I don't know. I have put out the rose cuttings." It looks like Grammy's handwriting but who would she have been writing to - her mother?
