1 cup butter or lard
1 3/4 cup brown sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp. allspice
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ground cloves
2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
3 cup chopped nuts
1 1/2 cup chopped candied cherries
3 cup flour
1 cup fruit juice (3 oranges and 1 lemon)
1 cup chopped dates
1 cup raisins
1 cup shaved citron
1 cup chopped candied pineapple

Directions:
Directions:
Mix shortening, sugar and eggs and beat well. Sift spices, salt, baking powder and 2 cups flour and add alternately with fruit juice to the first mixture. Add fruit and nuts mixed with remaining cup of flour. Bake in wax paper lined tin 4 hours in a slow oven 275º.
