4 cup dates
2 cup broken nuts
2 cup boiling water
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cup brown sugar
4 cup cake flour
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs
2 level tsp. soda

Directions:
Directions:
Prepare first dates, nuts and boiling water. Add remaining ingredients adding soda last because this causes the mixture to turn black. Add more hot water if the batter is too thick. Bake in small loaves at 350º for 15-20 minutes.
