2 cups of water
1 T butter
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
3 T corn starch
2 egg yolks, well beaten
juice and grated rind from 1 lemon
baked pie shell

MERINGUE:
2 egg whites
2 T sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together water, butter, sugar, salt and add corn starch dissolved in a little cold water. Boil together. When thick, pour over egg yolks and add juice of 1 lemon. Heat just to boiling point and pour into baked pie shell.

Mix egg whites and sugar and beat into stiff peaks. Pour over lemon filling. Bake in moderate oven 375º for 8-12 minutes until meringue is lightly brown.
