OATMEAL BARS:
1 c. oatmeal
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. margarine
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
FROSTING:
6 tbsp. margarine
1 c. brown sugar
4 tbsp. milk
1/2 c. nuts (optional)

Directions:
Preheat oven 350º. Pour boiling water over oatmeal. Stir--let stand 15 minutes. Cream butter and sugars. Add oatmeal mixture, eggs, and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt. Pour batter into a large cookie sheet pan or jelly roll pan. Bake 20-30 minutes. Top with frosting.
FROSTING:
Combine margarine, sugar and milk. Bring to boil and boil 2 minutes. Remove from heat Stir until begins to thicken. Spread on bars.
