1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed firmly
1/8 tsp salt
3 Tbsp dark corn syrup
1 cup evaporated milk
2 Tbsp butter
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups pecan halves

Directions:
Directions:
Butter the sides of a heavy 2-quart saucepan. Put the sugars, salt, corn syrup, milk, and butter in saucepan. Over medium heat, stir mixture constantly with a wooden spoon until sugars dissolve and mixture comes to a boil. Continue to cook to soft ball stage*; (236º on a candy thermometer). Remove from heat and allow to cool for 10 minutes.
Add vanilla and nuts; beat with spoon for approximately 2 minutes or until candy is slightly thickened and begins to lose it's gloss. Quickly drop by heaping tablespoons onto waxed paper.

*Soft ball stage. Drizzle a small amount of candy into a glass of very cold water. Candy should form soft pliable ball that will flatten easily between your fingers.
