1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 1/2 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 cup water
1- 8oz can of sauerkraut (drained, rinsed and finely snipped)

Icing:

Butter, vanilla, powdered sugar and milk to make a spreading consistency

Directions:

1. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light.
2. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla.
3. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, coca powder and salt.
4. Add to creamed mixture alternating with water. Beating after each addition. Stir in sauerkraut.
5. Turn into greased and floured jelly roll pan (15x13 inch pan)
6. Bake at 350º for 35-40 minutes. Cool and Frost.
