2 1/2 sticks unsalter butter, at room temperature
1 1/4 c light brown suger, packed
1 1/2 c all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/3 c coarsely chopped pecans, plus 48 pecan halves for garnish
1/2 c old fashioned rolled oats

Preheat oven to 325 degrees
In the bowl of electric mixer, beat together butter and brown sugar for 5 minutes or until light and fluffy. In a large bowl,stir together flour, salt, chopped pecans and oats. Stir in butter mixture and combine well.
Drop 1/4 cup measures of the dough about 4 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets and with the palm of your hand flatten each mound into a 3/4 inch thick round.
Press 2 pecan halves of top of each cookie and bake cookies in batches on middle rack of oven about 20 to 25 minutes or until edges are golden. Transfer cookies to racks to cool.
