¼ cup butter
¼ cup oleo
Pinch salt
1 ½ tsp baking powder
1 TBS anise seed
1 tsp vanilla
1 ¼ cup sugar
3 eggs
3 cups flour
1/8 tsp baking soda
2-3 tsp ANISE EXTRACT
½ cup nuts, opt

Directions:
Directions:
Mix butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla, anise seed and extract together.
Add remaining ingredients
Mix well
Add nuts
Shape into 2 rolls about thumb thickness, flatten on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper
Flour hands and dough to handle, dough will stick to hands so flour them good
Bake
Cool slightly
Cut with serrated knife, diagonally
Lay on cookie sheet
Bake 375 20-30 minutes
Test with toothpick to make sure done

After you cut them, put back on cookie sheet and bake again
Bake 225° for 1 hour
