1 cup raisins
2 cup hot water
2 T lard (or 3 T veg. shortening)
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. baking soda
1 3/4 cup flour

ICING:
5 T brown sugar
2 T evaporated milk (or cream)
3 T melted butter or margarine
1 cup flaked coconut

Directions:
Directions:
Boil raisins and water together until liquid is reduce to 1 cup. Add shortening to warm raisins and water; then add to sifted dry ingredients and mix well. Bake in a well-greased pan (may be tube pan or an 8 or 9 inch square) at 350 for about 25-30 minutes or until it tests done with toothpick.

For icing - Mix well and spread on warm cake; put under broiler until brown.
