1/2 cup favorite nut such as walnuts, pecan, peanut, cashew, hazelnut or
1/2 cup favorite hulled seed such as pumpkin, sunflower, sesame
1/4 cup craisins, raisins, dried blueberries or cherries- chopped
1 tbsp. olive oil or nut oil
dash of cayenne pepper
salt and pepper to taste
lemon zest ( optional)

Directions:
Grind nuts or seeds in a coffee mill if you have one(chops finer,faster) until almost a paste. In a bowl, combine nut/seed mixture with dried berries and oil. Stir in oil and mix well. Add zest, cayenne and salt and pepper to taste. Toss into warm pasta or shredded lightly steamed vegetables.

Variations on Nut Spread: Nut dressing
1/4 cup cream cheese (optional) at room temperature
Blend with a fork. Toss with warm pasta or shredded steamed vegetables as above.

Canapés: Nut dressing
Favorite crackers or vegetable slices, sprinkle with paprika.
