Directions:From Aunt Faye: Mama used canned biscuits for her crust. She rolled out each biscuit on a floured place until they were big enough to put the peaches.
But a recipe for a crust you can use: 1 cup water, 2 T. Crisco shortening and mix as much self rising flour as you need to make the dough stiff . Roll out to the size of a rolled biscuit.
The filling: Boil dried peaches with with 4 cups water very slow for about one hour. If they are not tender enough to mash, boil a while longer. Drain and mash up with one half cup sugar. Set aside and have crust ready to fill will fruit.
Assemble: Fill half of circle with the mashed fruit and fold over. Press the edges together good. Fry in deep fat until brown, then turn and fry on other side.
Makes 12 to 15 pies. I don't remember Mama using deep fat, but enough to cover pie. |

Notes: Faye said that Grandma never had a recipe. She tried to match what Grandma as best she could. This was and still is a family favorite! No body makes fried apple pies like Grandma Wilson!
