1 1/2 lbs. chuck steak, 1/2" thick
unseasoned instant meat tenderizer
salt and pepper
1 16 ox. can tomatoes
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
1/2 t. ground marjoram
1/4 t. garlic powder
1/4 t. salt
1/8 t. pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Cut all visible fat from steak. Cook pieces of fat in heavy skillet until fat is released; discard unmelted pieces.

Sprinkle meat with salt, pepper and tenderizer. Brown lightly in skillet. Pour off excess fat.

Add remaining ingredients, cover and cook over low heat about 2 1/2 hours, or until fork-tender. Add water during cooking if too much liquid evaporates.

Don't remember where this recipe came from, but it was always a hit with my girls. We ate LOTS of Swiss Steak when Heather and Mylea were growing up - usually with some type of pasta, but occasionally with mashed potatoes.
