1 pkg. Gruenkern soup(can be found in Pomegranate)
marrow bones and/or soup meat
1 lg. onion
1 quart water (for soaking)
salt, to taste
(optional, carrots and potatoes)

Directions:
Directions:
Soak kernels overnight. Dice onion and saute with meat. Add to soaked kernels and add water if necessary. Add salt or other spices if needed and cook for approximately 1-1 1/2 hours. Simmer overnight.

This has been the traditional recipe served on Shabbos day instead of cholent in our Oma and Opa's home.
