1 lb. ground chuck
12 oz. bulk Italian sausage, hot or sweet
1/2 cup fine, dry unseasoned bread crumbs
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup Romano or parmesan cheese, finely grated
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
2 tbsp. dried Italian seasoning or oregano
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
2 tsp. dried basil
1 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
1 cup low-sodium beef broth



Directions:

1. Cover bottom of shallow roasting pan coated with cooking spray with broth.
2. Preheat oven to 450º
3. Stir together all ingredients (except the meat) in a large mixing bowl.
4. Add ground beef and sausage and mix together thoroughly.
5. Using two spoons, shape the meat mixture into balls (about 2 inches in diameter).
6. Place meatballs in pan so they're not touching or crowded together and bake for 25 minutes, or until they are just cooked through.

Reserve pan juices for pasta sauce if desired.
