2 c. quick cooking split peas (rinsed)
1/2 c. chopped carrots
1/4 c. chopped onion
1/2 c. chopped celery
1/4 tsp. thyme
1/4 tsp. marjoram
dark cayenne pepper (to taste)
1/4 tsp. celery salt
1 bay leaf
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1 ham bone
3 qt. water
crispy bacon for crumbling on top

Combine all ingredients except bacon in large stock pot.
Bring to boil over medium-high heat.
Reduce to simmer.
Simmer for 1-1 1/2 hours.
Remove ham bone and bay leaf.
Serve with crumbled bacon sprinkled on top.
