1 cup maple syrup
2 T melted lard (shortening)
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
3/4 cup sour milk
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ginger

Directions:
Directions:
Place the dough on a floured surface and knead adding more flour if it is sticky. Roll out the dough using a rolling-pin to a thickness of 1/2 inch. Preheat oil in a deep fryer to 375°. Form the doughnuts into desired shapes and drop into the oil.
