"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

Directions:
Combine chocolate chips, nuts, cinnamon and 1/4 c. sugar; set aside.
Sift flour with baking powder and salt. Combine sour cream and soda. Cream butter with 1 c. sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each one. Add vanilla. Gradually add flour mixture. Spoon half of the batter into greased 9x9" pan, top with half the chocolate chip/nut mixture, carefully spreading with a spatula to form a smooth layer. Repeat layers. Bake at 350 for about 30-35 minutes, or until it begins to pull away from the sides. Cool in pan and cut into squares.

Mom got this recipe from the back of a sugar package, and it was something we had every General Conference weekend when we didn't have to rush to get ready for early morning meetings.
