1/2 c. melted butter
2/3 c. sugar
1 c. flour
1 c. cornmeal
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. soda

Directions:
Directions:
Put baking soda into buttermilk. Wait 5 minutes and add to other ingredients. Mix well. Put into a greased 9 x 9" pan. Bake for 30 minutes at 350º.

* If recipe is doubled for a 9x13" pan, you will need to cook it longer -- until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Mom would make cornbread to go with chili, or would make a white sauce with a can of tuna and would pour it over the cornbread for dinner. It's also yummy alone or with coconut honey or honey butter!
