1 small-medium head green cabbage
1 med size onion
1 tbsb. Vegetable oil
1/2 cup sugar (you can adjust amount of sugar up or down to your desired sweetness level)
1 8oz. can tomato sauce
1/4 can tomato paste
1 pinch Sour salt (you can adjust amount up or down to meet your desired tartness level)

1. Core cabbage and then slice into thin strips
2. Peel and slice onion into thin slices
3. Place the oil into a large pot and heat for a minute over medium flame
4. Add cabbage and onion to pot and cover.
5. Stirring often to avoid burning, cook the cabbage onion mixture until cabbage is soft
6. Add sugar and sour salt and mix through
7. Add tomato paste and mix through until dissolved
8. Add tomato sauce and mix through
9. Taste and add additional amount of any of the above ingredients to suit your particular taste buds!
10.Cook over a low flame for another 5 to 10 minutes

A favorite Miriam dish of the Bloom and Holzer clans. This is great hot or cold and is even better the day after cooking. If you cannot find sour salt you can use lemon juice
