Pastry:
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 c. flour
2 T. water

Topping:
1/2 c. butter
1 c. water
1 tsp. almond extract
1 c. flour
3 eggs

Glaze:
3/4 c. sugar
1 1/2 T. butter, softened
1 1/2 tsp. almond extract
2 T. warm water

Toasted sliced almonds for garnish

Directions:
Directions:
Pastry: Cut butter into flour. Sprinkle with water. Mix with fork. Round into ball and cut in half. Flatten and roll into 2 12"x3" strips. Place 3" apart on cookie sheet.

Topping: In medium sauce pan heat butter and water to rolling boil. Remove from heat and quickly stir in almond extract and flour. Stir vigorously over low heat until mixture forms a ball. Remove from heat. Mix in 3 eggs all at one time. Mix well. Divide in half. Spread evenly over pastry strips to the edges. Bake at 350º for 60 minutes or until topping is crisp and golden.

Glaze: Mix ingredients together. Spread over cooled puffs and sprinkle with almonds.
