2 cups walnuts, coarsely chopped
1 cup butter, melted

Directions:
Mix sugar, nuts, butter, aniseed, anisette, water and vanilla in large bowl. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Combine flour and baking powder; stir into mixture. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 3 hours. Divide dough into 5 pieces. Shape each piece into a long loaf 1/2 inch high and 2 inches wide, spacing 4 inches apart on parchment-lined cookie sheets. Bake in a preheated 375º oven until firm to touch, about 20 minutes. Let cool 30 minutes. Maintain oven temperature at 375º. Cut loaves diagonally into 1/2 to 3/4-inch thick slices. Bake until light brown, about 7 minutes on each side.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Pat was an older Italian woman who worked with mom. She sent some of her biscotti home with mom, knowing that our father was from the "Old Country." She gave mom the recipe, though it was "a jigger of this and a pinch of that." Mom finally got it right and father gave her an A+ for excellent. I don't know if they reminded him of something his mother use to make, but he seemed to always have room for a couple after dinner.
