12 large peaches, peeled
2 oranges
3 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 tbsp. lemon juice

Directions:
Directions:
Cut up peaches very fine. Cut skin of oranges into thin strips. Cut orange pulp into thin slices, removing all white skin; combine well. Add sugar and lemon juice; let stand overnight in a covered dish. Pour preserve mixture into a medium saucepan. Bring gradually to a boil, then turn down the heat and let simmer for 1 1/2 hours. Follow instructions for canning preserves.

We found this handwritten recipe from our great Aunt Florence. It must have been at least 70 years old. As children, we remember eating her homemade peach preserves on toast. It was always a real treat!
