1 1/2 c. Crisco shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. sour whole milk
2 c. flour
2 1/2 c. oatmeal
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt

Date Filling: mix together in saucepan, boil until thick
1 lb. dates
1 c. water
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and Crisco, add sour milk (to sour milk add 1 tsp. vinegar to the 1/2 cup whole milk). Stir in flour, salt and soda. Add oats, roll thin, cut out in circles, place heaping tsp. filling on one cookie, top with second cookie. Seal edges and bake at 350 for 12 minutes
