1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup b sugar
1/2 cup sour milk
2 cups flour
1 1/2 cups oatmeal
1 tsp b soda
1 cup coconut

Directions:
Directions:
Filling: 1 cup of chopped dates, 1 tbsp lemon juice and 1/4 cup white sugar. Cook on low heat until mushy.

Cream butter and shortening, mix in sugar then milk. Mix dry ingredients together and mix well with wet.

Form dough into balls and press down on cookie sheet. Add filling and then form another ball and press out on top.
Bake at 375 F for 8 to 10 minutes.

The first time I had this cookie was on my first trip to the Hoffman's when Doug and I started dating. It was made by Esther and it has been one of my favourites.
