1 cup margarine, softened
1 cup sugar
1 cup molasses
2 egg yolks, beaten
2 tbsp. baking soda
3/4 cup hot water
4 cups flour
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. ground ginger

Directions:
Directions:
In a large bowl, cream margarine and sugar. Add in molasses and egg yolks; mix well. Dissolve baking soda into hot water: add into margarine/sugar mixture; beat well. Add the rest of the dry ingredients; mix well. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto parchment-lined cookie sheets. Bake in a preheated 375º oven for 10 minutes.

Our Great Aunt Florence sent this recipe to mom. It seems they had a "recipe exchange" going on and would send recipes to each other with every letter they wrote. We recently found a file full of handwritten letters from Aunt Florence and each one included a great "tried and true" recipe!
