2 cups walnuts, finely ground
1 1/2 cups unsalted butter, softened
1 tsp. vanilla extract
3/4 cup sugar
3 to 5 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients. Roll the dough into a rope, about 3/4 inch in diameter, cutting small pieces approximately the size of your finger. Bend into a semi-circle. Place onto parchment-lined cookie sheets and bake in a preheated 350º oven for about 20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and roll each cookie in granulated sugar.

Nobody knows where this recipe came from, but mom thought it was from her German grandmother's side of the family. Wherever it came from, they are unique and wonderful!
