1 c. sugar
1 egg
3/4 c. shortening
2 c. flour
4 tbsp. molasses
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. allspice
1-1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Mix sugar and shortening. Add egg and molasses and mix until creamy. Sift dry ingredients and slowly add to shortening mixture. Make into 1" balls and roll in granulated sugar. Bake 10-15 minutes on ungreased cookie sheet.

This is a very basic recipe that Amy used to make often, in fact the recipe card is in her handwriting, although it's Mary's recipe. The perfect blend of spices make this cookie delicious!
