1 lb. ground beef
1 T. lard
1 tsp. salt [or to taste]
1 small white onion, chopped fine
1 T. yellow mustard
1 T. vinegar
1 T. sugar
water, to cover [see directions]
pepper to taste

Directions:
Directions:
1. Chop the onion
2. Melt the lard in pan over medium heat and sprinkle in salt
3. Add meat and brown it; break it up with wooden spoon throughout the process and add the chopped onion
4. When meat is browned, drain off any excess fat
5. Add just enough water to cover the bottom of the pan and most of the beef
6. Add mustard, vinegar and sugar. Continue to break down the beef with the spoon.
7. Let the dish simmer until all water is cooked out
8. Cook a little longer until the meat just starts to caramelize some of the sugar
9. Cover the pan and set aside to cool to room temperature
10. Warm up and eat!
