Creamy Garlic Parmesan Pasta Recipe

8 oz pasta (I usually use linguine, shells or bowties would work well also)
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp butter
3 large garlic cloves, minced
2 tbsp flour
3/4 C chicken stock
3/4 C milk
salt and pepper
1/4-1/2 C parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp parsley flakes

1. Cook pasta until al dente, drain and set aside
2. Return pasta pot to stove and melt butter in olive oil
3. Add garlic and saute until golden brown, about 30 seconds being careful not to let it burn
4. Sprinkle in flour and whisk for 1 minute until golden brown
5. Slowly pour in chicken stock and milk whisking until smooth
6. Season with salt and pepper; I usually add a little cayenne pepper here as well but that's optional
7. Stirring constantly, cook until mixture is thick and bubbly, about 4-5 minutes
8. Remove from heat and stir in garlic powder, parmesan cheese, and parsley; taste, add more salt/pepper if necessary
9. Add pasta, stir to coat; serve immediately
