thick bread (brioche bread works well)
cinnamon & sugar
3 eggs
3 egg yolks
1/2 cup milk or half & half
2 tablespoons sugar
dash of vanilla
Maple Dipping Sauce:
1/2 cup maple syrup
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
3 tablespoons milk

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 300º. Cut bread in strips and toast in oven so they are not brown, just dried. Make custard by mixing eggs, egg yolks, milk, sugar and vanilla. Pour custard into glass dish. Add toast strips and soak for 30 seconds. Flip. Soak for 30 more seconds. Cook in "black frying pan" with oil - brown both sides. Place on rack. Heat maple syrup dipping sauce in a pan and dip away.
