FILLING:
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
2 cans (14 1/2 ounces each) pitted tart cherries, drained
1/8 - 1/4 teaspoon almond extract

TOPPING:
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup cold butter, cubed
1/2 cup sliced almonds (optional)

Pie crust for 9-inch pie

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425º.

Combine filling ingredients in a large bowl; pour into crust. For topping, combine flour and sugar; cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in almonds. Sprinkle over filling. Bake for 35-45 minutes or until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly.
