1 1/2 cups chopped dates
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup butter, softened
2 cups brown sugar, packed
3 eggs
4 cups sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions:
Directions:
Boil over medium heat the chopped dates, sugar and water until thickened. Remove from heat. Add nuts to date mixture. In separate bowl, mix the butter, brown sugar, eggs, flour, soda and salt until smooth. Roll into oblong shape, about 1/4" thick. Spread date mixture on dough. Roll and chill. Cut 1/4" thick. Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375º for 10 minutes.
