Purchase or pick 6 lbs. of fresh pickling cucumbers.
Boil together:
9 cups water
1 cup sugar
1 cup vinegar
1/2 cup pickling salt

Directions:
Directions:
Wash cucumbers, sterilize jars, Put dill and about four garlic cloves into each sterilized jar. Pack with fresh, washed cucumbers, top with more garlic cloves and dill. Pour hot brine over prepared jars. Steam jars until cucumbers just turn color. Remove to counter where they will turn into a pickle color. This brine covers 7 quarts.

I got this recipe from Eleanor Steg, Ridgeville, Manitoba when we were living in Overstone, Manitoba in the late 1950`s. I have made this recipe every year until 2014. I remember one year we made 90 quarts and they were all consumed in one season.
