3 quarts medium pickles, sliced
12 medium onions, sliced
2 sweet peppers, chopped
1/3 cup non-iodized salt
2 quarts vinegar
1/3 cup mustard seeds
3 tablespoons turmeric
pinch alum
8 cups sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Put pickles, onions, peppers and salt in layers in canning pot, let stand overnight. Drain and add sugar, vinegar, mustard seeds, turmeric and alum, mix well. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes. Pack into clean hot jars, seal and let stand until cool. Any jars that fail to seal should be stored in refrigerator.
