2-3 lbs. chicken
1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. chili powder
1/8 tsp. pepper
3 tbsp. shortening

1/3 c. water
1/3 c. catsup
3 tbsp. brown sugar
3 tbsp. vinegar
2 tsp. prepared mustard
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. salt
dash pepper
1 tsp. lemon juice
1/2 medium onion
4 tbsp. margarine

Directions:
Directions:
In a paper or plastic bag, combine dry ingredients. Add chicken, 1 or 2 pieces at a time and shake. Brown chicken on all sides in shortening. Set aside.

Combine remaining ingredients in saucepan. Simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes. Pour over chicken. Cover and simmer for about 1 1/2 hours. Baste frequently with sauce.

As children, we loved when our mom made this dish. Although it's not what you would call a traditional soul food dish, it is one of my favorites!!! I think of her whenever I make it.
